Currently the system will only allow a macro to jump to a new screen as the last function within the defined macro. Is there a way to create a macro/s that starts in one macro( turn on TV, DVD, open DVD drawer), jump to second macro screen which is a warning that DVD drawer will close in 15 seconds. This warning macro activates a 15 second delay, closes DVD drawer and jumps to DVD menu screen. My current macro programs stop at the warning macro which makes the warning useless. In programming the delay before the jump to the warning screen would skip the warning screen all together. How would one program screen jumps within a macro, not just the final command?

First off, the RC5000 (and only RC5000) can have any number of jumps in a macro. As for what you want to do with the Pronto, you can reference macros from macros, but you cannot -- ever -- get a macro to change displayed pages.

Daniel, this seems to give the RC5000 a distinct advantage over the Pronto (in this particular case). However, most threads that I have read seem to indicate a strong preference for the Pronto over the RC5000. Would you please tell me what you would consider important differences between these two remotes?

Bob:
Until recently the Pronto had more features then the RC5000 (timers and beeps) soon the new Pronto will be out and I guess it will have some of the new features the RC5000 currently has.
From what I understand, there is one team for both remotes. Philips or Marantz go to the team and ask for the features, whomever asks for them, pays for them and gets them. Some features are paid by both and are given to both remotes. When an update for one remote comes out, soon after that there is an update for the other to be able to handle the newer CCFs.
So as to who has the best features, that depends on what you find important and when you ask the question. Here is a link to the new features on the RC5000 [Link: 63.217.229.8]

Thanks, Anthony. Do you know if the incresed 2-meg memory of the new versions of these remotes will help speed up page/screen changing?

The speed will be the same. None of the features marked as "Marantz exclusives" -- history, jumps in macros, etc. -- will be included on the Pronto.
