I have been considering buying the Pronto for some time, but have held off for one reason or another. Last night, my existing TV remote was rendered inoperable (and by inoperable, I mean smashed :-), so now seems as good a time to buy a Pronto as any. However, I'm a little confused as to my alternatives for programming the Pronto for my television. Since I have no remote for it to 'learn' from any more, I don't have a good handle on how I could set up the Pronto for the TV. I've looked in the file archive on this Web site for a CCF file for my TV (a Hitachi 50UX27K), but couldn't find one for that specific model (although there are CCF files for other Hitachi models).
I really don't know much at all about the Pronto and CCF files, but is it the case where such a file for a similar model Hitachi TV would work to some extent? Or is there another way to program the Pronto for my TV without having a working remote control?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Eric Carpenter

With a little patients I'm sure you could find the correct codes in the file section with a little trail and error.

From what i've read, the CCF should work if it is for a Hitachi no matter what model. This was true for my Sony CD player, I used a CCF for a different model, and it works things that my remote didn't even offer. Worth a try

As far as I know all Hitachi TVs use the same basic codes. However, over the years a number of features have either been added or removed (for instance my 1991 set has no nested menus; just direct buttons right to "PICTURE", "AUDIO" and "SETUP" sections, while the new models use a generic "MENU" button to access everything). There should be enough files out there for you to get everything you need.
