After all this time waiting fot the mx-1000 I think I'm ready to cave in in get the Pronto. I just put in a request at www.liquidprice.com and the price is already down to $314. Now that the news of the 2mb Pronto comes out this are my questions. Should I wait for the 2mb version or will 1mb be plenty? Also if I get the 1mb version should I wait for the "clearance' of the 1mb version for a better price? Finally will I be able to get the 2mb version at the $300 mark or will everyone stick to retail for a while?

Cy, it depends on how many equipment you want to control via Pronto and how fancy you want on all the buttons, layouts, etc. Do you have a CD/DVD changer and plan to input all CDs into Pronto? If yes, then I'm sure you'll appreciate the 2MB unit.

One way to find out is by downloading a copy of ProntoEdit and play around. Stick all the graphics you want from various CCF files, just assume you had a Pronto and you were doing the configuration. At the end, run the emulator, and check the memory usage. That should give you an idea.

To me, I'd still go for the 2MB because you're actually jumping from around 370KB to 1.67MB, that's a hell lot of difference.

Cy,

Does that mean that yes, or maybe, you'll do which - wait, or buy now, or wait for a clearance? For it are those questions to which I responded, 'yes'. ;)

Point being, there's no clear answer that someone else can provide for you. You have a firm grasp on the facts and possibilities, and only you can decide what's right for you.
