I've had a consistent problem with my machine hanging in the middle of dragging buttons around on a panel in PE. Don't have problems with any other software. It's always in PE and always while dragging or resizing stock buttons.
I'm running Win 2000 Pro and the system is not overclocked, btw.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Could be a video driver issue. I'm running at 920MHz without any problems.

I run Windows NT and 98. Will be running 2000 next week on a new 933.
One thing I have found in the past that cures a lot of problems with some software, and maybe applies to 2000, is to set the acceleration down a notch or two.
In 98 goto control panel, system, performance, and pick graphics.
Grab the slider and move it a notch or two left. Sometimes this makes a difference, sometimes not. One thing is that you rarely cause any problems going with a slower setting and you most likely will not notice any difference on most systems.

Dan and Perry,
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm using an ASUS V7700, GeForce2 GTS variant. Checked their web site, I do have the latest drivers, but did download and installed a newer BIOS revision. I'll see how that goes and if I still have the problem will try to slow the video card down a notch.
Thanks again! Gary

Keep in mind that you are not really slowing the video down, you are changing the way certain aspects of your display are handled. These include cursor control, pointers, etc.
When you move the selector to a lower setting you are basically selecting a more basic method of control, therefore often more compatible with problem apps.

Perry,
I do understand what you meant. But, I actually had to force the system into AGP 2x mode to resolve the problem. Turning off cursor and bitmap acceleration didn't help. Seems the problem occurs only when the system is using AGP 4x. I'll do some more testing to see if it's just PE or if other software is affected.
Thanks for the help, your suggestion to tune down acceleration is what got me trying AGP 2x. And thank you too, Dan. You were right about it being a video issue.

Gary,
Thanks for the reply. I am getting a new 933 in the next few days running 2000. I may just run into the same problem so it helps to see what fixes someone elses.

2 days and no sign of trouble with AGP 2x.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm running in 1920x1440x32 resolution, which together with AGP 4x might be a setup ProntoEdit QA didn't get around to testing.

My system is only running [email protected], but it is in AGP 4X mode with all features enabled. Sounds like a ASUS GeForce driver issue.
