I have come across a prombel that is quite fustrating. When I connect the cable to update the edit database all I get is the 'pronto not connected or not responding' msg with com1 : access denied com2 : acesss denied
I am using a Compac Presario 1800 with no modifications.
Is there any way to use the parallel port instead?
can you help
Regards

I have Palm Pilot/Hotsnc programs listed on my Window 95 screen. What do you mean "disable"? I have not messed with the Pronto since adding the above items to the computer! Do I have a problem if I use it now without any changes?

Well, you see that "access denied" message? It means the port is in use by another application (sounds like your Palm software in this case). One application cannot access a port already in use by another. So, you need to disable all HotSync software before ProntoEdit will be able to work. I'm not sure what the exact process is to unload it, but you can hit CTRL-ALT-DEL, select the HotSync application, then press END TASk.
