My Pronto just stopped working. I have tried to reset it and removed the battery pack and put it back in. The buttons light up for a few seconds and then the unit beeps 4 times. The screen never comes up and I can't connect to it with ProntoEdit.

Any ideas?

Four times means the firmware is corrupt. COnnect to your PC, load up ProntoEdit and run TOOLS - Update Pronto.

The problem is ProntoEdit will not connect to the Pronto. It opens COM1 just fine but then reports there is no response from the Pronto. What do I do now?

I'd suggest searching the forum -- there's been a lot of tips on getting serial ports to work just recently.

I got it to work. One step I forgot to do when the update failed to work was hit the skip button on the dialog which brings you to another dialog that says to reset the Pronto. When I hit the reset button ProntoEdit connected to the Pronto and it restored all the settings. Phew! I thought for sure my Pronto was a goner.

Thanks Dan.
