I had a local Audio/Video Dealer install an Rc5000 I purchased from them. So far they have attempted to charge me $1800 for their work and it is still far from being right. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hopefully, your either joking, or have the wrong number of zeros in the amount--do it yourself and get the Pronto the way you want it! There will be some time spent but it is a learning and rewarding experience to make the unit as simple or complex as you want it to be. If your amount is correct--get a refund or consider a lawsuit.

Is the $1800 for the installation of the whole system around the remote? or just for the remote + programming? I sell and install RC-5000 remotes myself, and must say that is quite out of line. Depending on how old the system is, and how much you want to control from where, things can get quite complex and time consuming, but $1800 seems a bit high, and should NOT be paid unless the system works as agreed upon. Give us some more info as to what they are doing for you. Also feel free to e-mail me if you need more help, or someone to fix the programming.
