Hey Folks, I ran into a problem a month ago when my remote would not power up with normal batteries. When I originaly order the pronto, I received the charger system with it. I decided to try and see if the rechargable batteries would work and they did. About 3 weeks after that, I had a few people over and when we were cleaning up it was dead. Please! Please! tell me I am not in trouble. I would appreciate any help I can get

I think we need more detail -- such have you tried removing the battery; does the charger work; what firmware revision; have you cleaned the battery contacts, etc.

I bought the unit on 1/19/00 of this year. I cannot find the latested firmware virsion. It is the original virsion. The charger seems to be working because the light is on and it fully charged the first time I used it. I have cleaned the contacts and tried many times to replace with both styles of batteries. The only unusual thing that happened was I blew a fuse when I pluged in the charger once, but it seems to still be working(light). I cannot upload the pronto to pronto edit either. Thank you for your help.

I think the first thing you need to work on is getting the Pronto to connect to your computer, so you can upgrade the firmware. Blowing a fuse isn't a good thing. At minimum it could have messed something in the firmware up (reflashing would fix). At worse something in the remote has become flaky. I'll tell you now the Pronto is very power sensitive...
