Just out of interest, what sort of LCD Display and LCD Light duration periods are you guys using? I have left mine with the default settings of 10 seconds and 4 seconds respectively.

I use 30 and 20. I am using the charger so I am not as conservative as I would be otherwise.

I have the display at max (I think it is at 240) since I leave it on the charger most of the time I do not care for battery life. I don't remember what the light is at. (but if you have the light to automatically turn on then that setting is irrelevant

When I first bought mine, I used 240 and 240. The RC-5000 rechargeable NiMH batteries lasted 4-5 days.
Now I use 45 and 45 seconds. The batteries last about 14 days.
The reason I don't keep it at 240/ 240 is because I'm worried that I'll wear out the backlight (an earlier thread said that it eventually wears out), and plus I think the battery can only be recharged a limited number of times (although I'm not sure).
