Did anyone else notice the Pronto on tonight's episode of Stargate SG-1 (Scorched Earth)? It was used to activate the Naquada bomb. Wish mine had that kind of IR range ... ;-)

I remember seeing an episode with a Marantz RC2000. They must have some remote control buffs working on that show.

Greetings Andrea!

Yeah, I caught that too! But what was really amazing is that the box has only been opened for a few days and it's been almost entirely in my hands, but low and behold my wife says to me..."Hey, he's using the Pronto for the remote!"

Gotta love that!

Best Regards,

Darryll

Yes, I saw it also... We were just discussing it here this morning... Low-budget props.

Do you think we could get the IR hex code for the bomb? I hope it's a discrete code.

I'd hate to have a "disarm" macro using only toggle codes!

Daniel...

The guy who brought it in to use was surely the guy who took it home. Would YOU leave your pronto at work?

dave ;-)

Wonder if it's a standard prop. "Hey, I need a small handheld thing with a screen that beeps." "Here, take this... just don't point it at the cameras!"

Daniel,

Sounds like it. It must be the Stargate version of a tricorder...

Wow, a marketing opportunity for Philips!

Special cases with engravings of the Star Trek Federation seal or SG1, etc. The possibilities are almost endless. Of course, if they cannot keep up with normal demand, this would almost seal their fate.

Oh well, just dreaming a little...

Normal demand? Hmmm... If philips has 1 to sell, and they can sell it to a regular consumer for $400, or the movie industry for $4000, who do you think they'll sell it to?

Still, I'll bet it was just someone working on the show that offered their Pronto for quick use as a prop.

...They probably had a Palm Pilot handy, but of course EVERYONE knows what they look like. :-)

Daniel, don't forget that they don't have the range, there is no way to control something light years away with the Palm Pilot ;-)
