The Best Buy / History Channel special offer is for a set of free VHS-only videos. I don't see anything about a rebate.

The $100 Circuit City rebate is real, is good thru 9/4/00, but is only for the Philips HDR112 (14-hour) model. The TiVo $100 rebate is also real, is good thru 9/30/00 on any TiVo Personal TV Recorder, and the TiVo service must be activated by 9/30/00, too.

I just saw that about the video. It was listed as a rebate under their site. So, $200 off the 14 hour TIVO? This puts the total price at $115 (5% sales tax) plus the $200 lifetime subscription = $315. Not too bad, especially when you can hack it to get just about as much time as you would need.

Funny, the Circuit City add on-line shows the following:
----------------------------
Rebates Save $200

Philips TiVo 14-Hour Digital Video Recorder with Remote Records and stores your favorite shows on its hard drive.
HDR112

$299.99 - $100 Circuit City mail-in Rebate - $100 Tivo Mail-in Rebate when programming is activated by 9/30 = $99.99.
-------------------------

They do not mention the 9/4 deadline on the CC rebate, even though the rebate form shows this. Misleading advertisement...

For those of you thinking of getting a TiVo from Mercata, if you link to Mercata from ebates.com you can get an additional 5% rebate.

I used this when I got my last 30 hour ReplayTv unit, here's how the price broke down for me:

$501.00 = final Power Buy price at Mercata
$ 5.90 = shipping

$100.00- = ReplayTV rebate
$100.00- = Mercata new customer rebate
$ 50.00- = ReplayTV 'Refer a Friend' rebate chain
$ 25.07 = ebates.com rebate

$231.83 = Grand Total (inc shipping and service)

I have put together a web page with links for all of the above at [Link: hifi-remote.com]

You can use the Mercata and ebates links to buy a TiVo also.

Rob.
