Hi,

Can I download and use Pronto CCF files with the RC5000? Just wondering.

Thanks,

Bill

CCFs have exactly the same format regardless of whether you use ProntoEdit or RC5000 Setup. You can use either program to make changes to any CCF. However, RC5000 Setup does not let you add or change beeps or timers.

But you can only use ProntoEdit to download a CCF to a Pronto and you can only use RC5000 Setup to download a CCF to a RC5000.

I thought you could use ProntoEdit to download a CCF to an RC5000. It'll strip out the beeps and timers as it downloads. However, you can only update the firmware of a Pronto with ProntoEdit and that of an RC5000 with RC5000 Setup.

Andrea, you're probably right. I have never tried it - just going on from what others have said.

It should probably work, but the question is why would you want to? If you have an RC5000, use RC5000 Setup. If you have a Pronto, use ProntoEdit. Besides for specific file transferring/filtering capabilities, they're identical programs.

I would like to know if ProntoEdit can edit/download CCFs into a RC5000. The reason being that I have a Pronto (and ProntoEdit 1.05), but someone I know is building a HT for someone he knows and wants me to build a CCF for his system, and he's getting a RC5000. In light of this, can I do this with the ProntoEdit I already have, or will I need RC5000 Setup (and can this be downloaded from where?)

Thanks... KJP

Edit - Yes (but the newer features of the RC5000 will not be available to you)
Download - I think it can, but I am not sure.
Update - I know you did not ask this but NO.

But you can easily download the RC5000 software from here and install it on your PC, it will not cause any problems to ProntoEdit

Kevin,

If you download and install both Pronto Edit, and the RC 5000 Setup program, you may have to reinstall PE if you uninstall the 5000 Setup program after your project. At least that's what happened to me. Reinstalling shouldn't overwrite or touch any of your personal ccfs when you reinstall, but I'd back them up just to be safe.
