I was shopping at Sound Advice for a Pronto Remote. They offer price levels for this remote - $199; $299; and $399. They told me that the difference in prices is due to differences in the programming interfaces in the units. I was unable to find any information on this type of pricing structure. Sound Advice offers to program the remote for me upon purchase and the complexity of the remote's program varies based upon the level that I purchase. Does anyone know whether there are different versions of this remote or can I buy the cheapest remote and program it myself.

Right now there's only one version of the Pronto, though it comes in two colors. $399 is list price. $299 is a common street price. $199? I have no idea what they're selling for $199.

Elwin,
Don't get tricked into paying extra cash for the supplier to programme your new pronto for you. Buy it bare and use this site to programme it yourself. Assuming that you have access to a PC (You posted this notice after all) then you are more than capable of setting up your own pronto. Any problems you encounter will probably been encountered and fixed before, with details somewhere here. Believe me, even if you let your supplier programme it, you will be fiddling with it yourself, hours (if not minutes) after getting it home. Chances are the supplier is using this site to set it up for you anyway. Daniel and the rest of the people here are very helpfull and provide ALL you need to get up and running. Regards, Lee.
