I know I've seen this discussed before here, but even after searching, I can't find it.

I can set the Home icon to a 40x24 icon, but doing the same thing to a Device or Macro Group doesn't change anything. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not certain what you're trying to do. The only customizable part of the top of the screen is the home icon. You can't do anything to the Macro or Device menu buttons.

O.K. I'm confused, so what does the Icon property for Devices and Groups do? Something for the autogenerated home page?

You can get to the System Properties page by right clicking any of the three (Home, Devices, Macro Groups). If you look closely the heading says "Home Icon".

I'm aware of that, but under the individual device properties, there is a tab labeled "Icons". This isn't the same as the Home Icon, because if you set the Home Icon, these aren't set.

I'm not trying to achieve any particular effect nearly as much as I am trying to figure out what I can do with this.

I see what you're looking at, but icons assigned there don't seem to do anything.

OK, finally tracked down what you guys are seeing.

The Icons tab ONLY appears if you have developer=1 turned on in your Pronto.ini file.

If you do set up these icons, they do get saved in your CCF file, and they get reported if you do a "Save to Intermediate Format".

Have not been able to figure out what they are for yet.

I figured that had something to do with it -- but since I haven't added any devices since turning it on I had never noticed it. I too can't see any use for them. Perhaps it's something left over from a feature long-ago dropped?

Finally, I find something other than "Save to Intermediate Format" that developer=1 does *snicker*

Guess pushing and prodding tripped me up this time. Someday I'm gonna push this thing to the point that it breaks for good. Probably doing something really stupid like hand-tweaking the firmware to free up the space used by features I don't use/like (No, I haven't even started that yet).

There's even something else it does (besides add that nice [developer version] tag to the title bar), you can set a CCF so it is the "Factory default".

I really wonder what the point of a Device icon is -- with selected/unselected versions yet.
