Know there are already some threads on this subject, but need to ask a very specific question not covered in any of the existing threads:

Has anyone succesfully connected to the Pronto using a USB Macintosh, VPC 3.0.x (running Win 98), and a Palm USB adapter? If so, please describe your VPC settings for USB and for COM 1/COM 2. Every variation I've tried results in a hard freeze of VPC and the Mac when I try "Upload from Pronto" within the ProntoEdit software.

I am also having the same problems as you with the exception that my pronto doesnt freeze, it wont talk to the mac via the COM parts.

Im running VPC 3.0x (win98) on a g4. I have also installed it on a powerbook 3400 with the same problems.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to make the pronto and the mac see each other?

I've got the same problem(s) as noted above. It seems to crash when I don't enable USB and the Pronto fails to respond to any variation of com settings.
Here's my setup:
G4 AGP
VPC 3.0.3 (Win 2000)
Palm USB adapter (palmconnect serial port tag)

It seems that the problem lies in how VPC handles the USB ports. In SoftPC, I seem to recall a setting that lets you utilize USB ports as if they were serial ports. This would be a useful feature for VPC (otherwise, SoftPC kinda sucks, imho).

I'm dying to hear about a solution to this as ZTerm up/downloading is not something I want to get into.

Thanks in advance!
