Does anyone have the code to access VCR3? The VCR1 button is on the remote, But the VCR3 is not, why would they leave it off. Maybe the SA-AX6 remote has the button.

I haven't got a VCR3 nor a DVD-6Ch remote code (yet) for the Technics SA-AX7, but I do have some other codes that work and are not on (or are different than) the EUR646497 remote. Some came from Remote Central Discrete IR Codes (SA-AX6), some from erics.ccf (SA-AX6), and some an All For One remote:

  • Power Off

erics.ccf has Center channel level +/- controls, but I haven't tested them (don't have a center speaker).

If anyone has more Technics SA-AX7 (or AX6) remote codes, please post them!

I talked to a CSR at Technics, Friday and she said that the engeneers did not include the VCR3 nor the DVD6ch on the remote. Which means that there are no hex codes because they do not exist. So she says. I cannot believe that they did not develop a code to change the input to VCR3 or to select between DVD and DVD6ch. I'm using the Ir tool to try and find it myself, but if any of the more experienced code breakes out there can pass along some tips I would appreciate it.

Mattias,

If you're using your DVD player for listening to stereo CDs like I am, there's kind of a work-around for not having a remote code to switch off the DVD-6Ch mode.

In addition to the 6-channel audio outputs, the DVD player probably has regular stereo left and right audio outputs (the panel says their for the TV on mine).  What I've done is connected those to the SA-AX7's CD inputs.

When I listen to CDs on the DVD player, I select CD on the receiver instead of DVD.  Then all the SFC, Surround Sound, and Stereo options become available, just as if I had gotten up (not likely), walked over to the receiver, and hit the DVD 6CH INPUT button!

Since there's no discrete codes for 5.1 on/off on my Sony receiver, that's exactly what I do -- connect a stereo cable from one of the analog out ports on the DVD to CD on the receiver.

I tried the codes from Eric.CCF and all codes for adjusting the center- and surroundchannels is working fine.
I use both a regular CD and a DVD so the solution to connect a different output dos´nt work for me.

This might be a silly question but what is Sound Filed Control ? I tried the code but nothing happens.

I think that someone should send in the new discretecodes to others on the filesection (I count that it is 9 new ones).

My wishlist of codes:
DVD-6ch
VCR 3
Delay + and -

Mattias,

To answer your first question, I believe "Sound Field Control (SFC)" is a Technics term for something that most surround-sound receivers offer.  It provides surround-sound-like effects to non-surround signals.  It's most useful for stereo, but sometimes sounds better than Dolby ProLogic if the ProLogic source is poor, like with some TV and FM stations.

Once you get used to hearing things in surround sound, plain-old stereo can feel kind of flat.  SFC takes care of that by widening the stereo sound field (like enhanced or 3D stereo), and adding a delayed signal (reverb) to the rear speakers.

It has five modes: Hall, Club, Live, Theater, and Simulated (which is simulated surround-sound).  With the SA-AX7, if you're in Stereo or Surround (ProLogic) mode (not Discrete 6-Channel/DVD 6CH INPUT mode) and hit the SFC button, it'll put you in the last SFC mode that you chose for that device (input).  The name of the mode will show on the AX7's display.  If you hit SFC again, it'll take you to the next SFC mode, and so on.

Using the remote's + and - keys you can set the amount of Delay (reverb) and Level (volume) on the rear speakers for each SFC mode, effectively customizing them, and the receiver will remember the different settings for each mode.

As for your wishing for Delay + and - codes, you already have them.  The + and - keys are used both for Level and Delay.  If you hit the Delay button, the + and - keys adjust Delay until you hit the Level button.  Then they adjust Level until you hit Delay, and so on...

Hi!
I belive that the European(or swedish) version of SA-AX7 is different, because the SFC is missing on my reciver. Anyone else that can confirm this ?

Mattias, I'll e-mail attach to you a photo of the SA-AX7 and pages from the manual showing the SFC controls. Interestingly, the remote has a European-sounding model number, EUR646497, and it has no SFC controls.

Hi!
The differenses between the US-version and the European is that instead of the SFC-controls the European has controls for the radiosystem in Europe (RDS). The remote is identical.
