Marantz has updated their web site www.marantzamerica.com/rcsetup.htm with version 1.02.3 of RC5000 Setup (which contains the firmware update for sys v3.62, app v4.85).

This is great news and I have downloaded same. However, I cannot get it to work. I get the following message: The RC5000SETUP.EXE is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6880.

Anyone: Any ideas?

It installed fine for me. However, I would imagine that this is the same problem mentioned by folks installing PE 1.05. Read about the workarounds for PRONTOEDIT.EXE (they should apply for RC5000SETUP.exe):

Uninstall RC5000 setup and make sure you delete the registry entrys.

Then Find MFC42.DLL and rename it to MFC_42.DLL

Then REinstall RC5000 and see if it works.

We had this happen on a laptop for our techs, it fixed the problem.

Many thanks your help. Unfortuntely my laptop will not allow me to rename the MFC42.dll file and am still stuck.

I am not computer literate enough to know how dangerous it is to play with the other versions of MFC*.* I have installed (eg MFC42u.dill etc.).

Marc,

If you have Windows 95 or 98, there are two ways you can safely rename the file...
1) In dos mode, rename the file.
2) As you turn computer on, start tapping the F8 key, this will load Windows in SAFE mode, and you can rename file.

None. However they have a software fix for the re-boot problem...

Marantz RC5000 Setup v1.02 came out a short time ago. ProntoEdit v1.04 came out a LONG time ago. Thus, ProntoEdit v1.05 still had much to catch up on when the reboot problem cropped up. RC5000 Setup only needed to fix the reboot problem.

Andrea / HiFiGuy / Eric,

I am now up and running again so many thanks. I renamed the old MFC42.dll and installed RC5000 Setup whilst in Safe mode.
