Still cant rename mfc42.dll file

I still cant rename mfc42.dll it keeps coming up with file in use or write protected.All programs are shut and I have battery and volume symbols only in my system tray.Please help as it's the wifes lap top thats about to go out off the window!

Mike,
You have to shut down to DOS. Once there (you should be in the C:\Windows directory), type "CD system" (without quotes). You'll now be in the C:\windows\system directory. Type "ren mfc42.dll mfc42.old" (without quotes). reboot the machine and reinstall prontoedit.
