I have had my Pronto for a few days and at least have it working for all decives, with all kinds of panels from various CCF files found in this site. If the Pronto can LEARN all of my devices why, after browsing all of this mornings entries, does it seem so important for Pronto users to update and store these LEARNED commands into an IR Database? If this is a dumb question, my apologies...

It's a matter of convenience and safety, for me at least. If I redesign a panel that contains IR codes, I don't want to have to relearn all the buttons that were already on that panel, and pulling the codes up from the database is easier than copying the IR codes from one button to another, deleting the old buttons as I go to make room for the new buttons.

Not a stupid question, I'm sure that there are people that get along fine without updating the IR Database.

It is hard enough for newbies to pick up the learning curve without having to also tackle IRDatabase. My advice - don't go near it til you are comfortable with everything else. Even then I doubt it is worth the trouble of getting into.

IN response to Eric, many of us set up devices that look a bit like our remotes and have the codes for every button on the remote. However, we do not use these as our primary user interface. Effectively we have them hidden. Our real user interface is designe dto look good and be easy to use. However, every button is aliased to buttons on our hidden devices. That way, we don't have to worry about accidentally deleting a learned code.
