I got a Pronto yesterday. I had to leave my first born child as collateral, but I brought it home, and it was everything I was told. It was very simple, and my 22 year old son, who doesn't like anything, said it was pretty cool. That's high praise!! What I wanted to know is where to go from here. The store I bought it from indicated that they were doing really cool programming things with it, but I am new and at a loss. What is the next step beyond basic operation of the Pronto, and how do I learn more?

Bruce, I am also quite new to this new found "labour of love"!. What I've managed to squeeze in over the past week or so is the following:
1) Explore this site! 2) Think about how you want your new remote to control your HT 3) Explore this site some more! 4) Play with and become familiar with the ProntoEdit S/W (PE) 5) Download and review some of the CCF files from this site -you'll be amazed. 6) Become familiar with how to work with different CCF's, galleries, devices, etc. You can learn a lot of want you need by browsing this forum and it's files. 7) Don't look at the whole picture...it'll only scare you!
I got quite a bit from members.aye.net/~barenada/pronto.html
Some of it was overkill for the beginner but it helped me make a start. From this site, I have now created a single device in PE. Within the device I have created a panel for each device / remote I want to control. I then created "nasty" buttons for each button on the appropriate remote and learned each of the codes. Starting tomorrow I hope to start creating the actual usable screens using tabbed panels with buttons that will point to the learned codes I have already stored.
To summarize....I've learnt a lot over the past week or so. You can make this as simple or as complicated as you want. IMHO, diving straight in may be fun but may be more work in the long run.
Finally....have fun. This is money well spent!
