Is it possible to have the backlight automatically come on when jumping to a different device/page.

You mean jumping via another hard button? That's the only circumstance I can think of where it wouldn't be on already. But the answer is "no"... hard buttons can now activate the LCD for jumps or scrolls, however not the backlight.
