When downloading a new CCF into Pronto I was was greeted with an error message and an aborted download. Now my Pronto will not work at all - the screen is full of garbage - and resetting does not help. When I try to download to default CCF, Pronto Edit will no longer recognize the Pronto. Anybody have a solution to this?? I would appreciate your help.

On a rare occassion while downloading a ccf (and once while using it), my Pronto screen has gone bonkers with a series of lines going across the screen. I cannot reset, download or do anything with it. Pronto Edit will not recognize the unit either. I have found if I remove the batteries and then put them back in again this corrects the problem although I don't know why. I always reload the ccf just in case but this has happened only twice now-not enough to cause me concern. (Although it is a little disconcerting when it happens.)

I don't know if this is the same problem but thought it might help. Good luck.

Try updating the firmware.

Thanks Daniel. Updateing the firmware did the trick.

I did the same thing. on downloading a ccf file
I aborted the download now my pronto shows a black screen of garbage then goes blank then beeps
It repeats this sequence forever. Cant get it to accept new firmware 4.7 or 4.8 and taking the batteries out or pressing the reset with the paperclip has no effect.
I am still trying

Keep trying to connect to do the upgrade... it may work sooner or later (others have had success there -- it's a matter of catching it at the right time).

But quick advice to others: NEVER abort a CCF download!

I had a similar problem too, also before an upgrade.

BUT being told to upgrade doesn't help if you're in this position already, so here is what I did.

First of all, Don't Panic !! If the reset button doesn't seem to work, still connect it to your PC and run the Prontoedit software. Confirm that you can't download another CCF into it first, and if this still fails use the upgrade facility of Prontoedit. Don't panic if it doesn't connect - the software will assume the worst and ask you to press the reset button again. When you press it (assuming it's still connected of course !) it literally says "Thank you" and (I'm assumin here) does a forced download and voila !! Hunky dory again.

Incidentally, a little tip here. The reset button on my Pronto is a real sod to press. I needed a very fine flat bladed jewelers screwdriver to press mine, because it is so far recessed into the unit it is unreal. You will know when you've pressed it though, it's quite tactile and makes a faint click.

I hope this helps.

Garry.

Closer but :(
I loaded in the prontodefault.ccf which wont download(pronto not responding).

So on to the tools/update pronto.
Which says cant upload configuration .
So now press continue and then it asks you to reset pronto . If I am lucky it says cant retrieve system info else nothing changes
But still trying !! thanx all
Wish I never touched the cancel download button
Maybe they should remove it from Pronto edit ??

Yep, mine said can't retrieve the info as well - but the dialogue box said something about proceed anyway. I'm going from memory here so you will have to excuse me if I'm generalising or missing out the odd step - but I locked mine up totally with an aborted download (junk on the screen, "rebooting" every few seconds, the works) and the forced update did work for me.

The key here really is "Don't panic". It took me two attempts to realise there was a proceed option on that dialogue box that says it can't determine a configuration, and that was just me thinking "oh Sh*t, I've screwed it up and it's less than a day old" instead of taking a deep breath and reading the onscreen prompt properly. It isn't like Windows when it tells you it's going to delete all your files and then gives you one button called OK when what you really want is one that reads "No way ! I'll take my chances, thank you very much !". There is a choice...

Like I said though, it did have on mine...

Regards,

Garry.

I have exactly the same problem as azazael. The problem is that you do the reset as requested, Prontoedit says "Thank You", but then it says to wait for the pronto to restart. But this does not happen and you get a message to say "Pronto did not restart properly. Do you want to retry or cancel?" Selecting retry puts you into the same loop again......

Azazael... Have you got yours working yet?????

Trust this to happen just when I had almost got all my remotes coded in!!!!

Please help someone.

Thanks,
Ed.
