i understand that you can set the pronto up so that after pressing the backlight button, the backlight will stay on from 1 second to 4 minutes, is this 1 second to 4 minutes from when you hit the backlight button or 1 second to 4 minutes from when you stop hitting the keys?

Hmm, that's a good question.

But the answer is from when you stop pressing buttons. I enabled the backlight with the button. I have a 25 second timeout. By pressing keys, I got it to say on for 60 seconds. After I stopped using the LCD it promptly timed out after 25 seconds. Physical buttons (channel/volume/right/left) don't affect the LCD/backlight timeout, as they have their own indipendant timer.

That's why we implemented it this way...

In fact, the timer starts as soon as the touch screen or back light button is released. To keep the screen on for a longer period of time you can either keep your finger on the touch screen or keep pressing the back light button. By the way, the back light button will switch on the display _and_ the back light no matter what the current lighting conditions are. Touching the screen will only switch on the back light if the Pronto measures a light level lower than the level defined by the user.
