I think I have the REAL fix to the IE5 Pronto font problem.

I have just installed IE5.01 and the problem has gone away.

I am running NT4 with SP5. I have not attempted to reinstall ProntoEdit after upgrading to IE5.01.

Can others please verify that this fixes the problem for them as well. Also need to check Win 95 and Win 98.

Forgot to tell you how to upgrade to IE5.01.

Open up IE, from Tools menu select Windows Update. When it finally tells you about all of the available updates, just pick IE 5.01.

I chose the minimum update option which was an 8 Mb download.

Yep, that's it. Upgrading to 5.01 fixed the problems for me. I'm running Windows 98SE.

It sounds like Microsoft really did create a bug with some of the core files installed alongside IE5, and finally fixed it. Heh. Who'd'a guessed!

I just downloaded the new fonts files for IE5, and that seems to have fixed the problem with Pronto fonts. I still have IE 5.00.2614 not 5.01 and the font files did the trick and they are a lot smaller than the IE5.01 upgrade download.

Thanks

I tried doing the fonts only but that did not work. I had to go to IE5.01. I'm on NT so that might be the difference.

BTW, after upgrading to 5.01 the version shows as 5.00.2919.

I have DSL so a full 25Mb download only took about 4 minutes. If you don't have DSL, I highly recommend it :).

Upgraded my home machine (98 SE) last night and it worked too. This is the first time I have been able to see the font, and it makes a HUGE difference.

By the way, it's 1st December here in Melbourne, it's officially the first day of summer (we do it differently) and we are in the middle of a heat wave already - 35 degrees expected today. And only 732 hours left in the millenium.

Cool!

I tried just the IE core fonts, but that did not work. Downloading IE5.01 and installing it did the trick though.

Wasn't even sure what font problem you guys were talking about until I tried to alias some buttons the other night. This does indeed make a huge difference.

But, at the same time, it's rather mysterious why IE had anything to do with this...especially after trying to install the core fonts first and not having any luck...
