I got my Pronto and docking station yesterday.
I installed the battery pack, and placed the Pronto on the charger. The green light glows VERY dimly (you have to cup your hand over it to see it). It glows whether or not the Pronto is seated on it.

I left it on overnight, and it shows only 50% charge!!!

Help! I bought it from a HORRIBLE company (J&R).
If it's defective, I'm afraid I'll never get it resolved.

The docking station is known to be a bit bodgy, ie you have to fiddle around to find the best position for your pronto on the charger.
Try to move your pronto around until you find the light is glows normally.
If it doesn't... well, it could be bad luck for you. Sorry!

Martin.

You may want to take the battery out and put it back in. Sometimes the pronto power indicator only shows 50% when the Pronto is actually fully charged. I remember other people wondering if this had something to do with differing electrical properties of the charger vs. real batteries.

If the charger light only stays on for about two minutes when you place the Pronto on the charger, then the Pronto should be fully charged.

Yes, the charger is known to be a bit picky over the first week of operation. After that things should be A-OK. Just make sure the batter pack is properly and snugly installed in the remote.

Yes, the charging light does appear be on VERY VERY dimly whenever the charger is not in use. Honestly, after a full year of operation, I just noticed that. :-)

Daniel,

Why the first week and can I expect my charger to get better? I've had it for 6 days now and can't get it to charge fully.

Mine has been at 50% for a couple of weeks now. Taking the battery and and reseating it has no effect. I believe that it is really fully charged, but that the software in the remote doesn't properly indicate this.

I received my docking station yesterday and I have the same problem! If I place the pronto on the docking station the charging light will be on for like 2 minutes but the indicator on my pronto display the battery is to weak to display the battery status!
I will try all mentioned solutions but if anybody has THE answer for this problem let me know!!

Well I've found out that maybe the best way to keep it going is making sure you don't let batteries too empty. If after loading it doesn't show up right level.take it out and put it back. Worked for me (after the fact that the charger didn't even lit up though the battery showed low level.. had to take rechargable batteries out, put normal batteries in and then put the rechargable back). I think you should keep it at the charging station when you don't use it.

I think I have THE solution!

I pressed the reset switch on the backside of the Pronto. After pressing it I placed the pronto back on the charger. After 3 hours the charging LED was switched off and the battery was complety loaded!!!

TRY IT OUT!! IT WORKED FOR ME!

I received my Pronto and docking station last night. I put in the battery pack, let it charge for three hours, and got nothing. (I had the dim green light showing.) I open the back panel, pushed the battery in a bit further, let it charge overnight (now with a bright green light that would not stay on), and got nothing. I got the 'low battery' warning when I tried to do any programming. This morning, after reading the Pronto FAQ document, I removed the battery and replaced it, this time making sure that I snapped it securely into place. Almost immediately, the unit showed a strong charge and allowed me to learn from a remote.

Make sure your battery is inserted completely.

Also, the light always glows dimly (VERY dimly) whenever the docking station has power.
