When trying to upload from my P2K, I am now getting "Command Failure" on both PE & tonto. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Butch Searle-Spratt

Sounds like another Aiming at the wrong end of the remote problem...

If you have a TSU2000 or older, you need to aim at the Butt of the remote, not the IR window.

I'll bet it's something to do with Mac problem. I know nothing about tonto, but I've heard people have a lot of communication problems with their prontos to mac's.

Well I suppose he could be using a Mac (with the appropriate PC emulator) but I'm confused as whether he's talking about learning while attached to computer, or just trying to upload a ccf to the computer.

Oh, I am sorry guys. I thought tonto was only for mac's. I evidently got the wrong idea about it. What is tonto?

It's a 3rd party replacement for Pronto Edit, Touchscreen Setup etc. Better communications, more features, and it's cross platform. You can find it here: [Link: giantlaser.com].

Thanks Jim, I had never seen it before. Am I right that it doesn't work with the NG remotes.

Thanks,
Mark

Tonto is just for the classic Pronto.

I'm not sure what "Command Failure" means though, I don't recall seeing that error before.

Is the remote working? Does the software start uploading and stop part way? Or can't it see the remote?

Thanx all for the replies. The problem is sporadic and occurs on both PE & Tonto. I modified my .ccf on Tonto and downloaded it into my P2K. So far so good. I then learned some codes into the new buttons, no problem. Then I attemped to upload the .ccf in order to save the new learned commands. This is where the problem started. At 57% the upload would stop and "Command Failure" would pop up. I tried uploading on PE. Same result, it would stop, but it didn't say "Command Failure". What is working now is to upoad to an "untitled" .ccf and then "save as". I have had my P2k for over 2 years now with no problems other than the charger but thats another story. I designed my own .ccf so I am somewhat familier with the Pronto. Just looking for some opinions here and wondering if I have a corrupted .ccf and if so what the alternatives are. BTW I am running older versions of everything so I know I should update although I do not see how this could be the problem.
Tonto V1.44
PE4
Sys V4.8
App V5.3
Thanx all for your help. Butch Searle-Spratt

You really shoud update everything that needs to be updated.. Firmware, Software version, App, etc etc etc.... Many of the pronto bugs didnt rear their ugly head until specific parameters were introduced.... Not many people are going to remeber specific fixes from firmware/software versions that are 3 years old. Its very posible that an IR code you learned or an app on your computer that you added since the last time you used your pronto is causing the issue.

Good advice. I have downloaded PE V4.0.5 is this the latest version? The firmware update on this version is the same as the one I already have installed on my P2K. Should I be looking somewwhere else for the latest firmware. Thanx Butch
