I can't seem to get to grips with programming my new Marantz 9200 remote control. Can anybody please give me some advice?
Is it best to configure the remote (views and buttons) first and then teach it existing remote controls?
Has anybody created a Sky+ configuration (ccf) that I could download?
Thanks for your help!

Yes. Construct your layouts and set up how you want to navigate between devices. At this stage, when creating buttons, put a delay in the action list. Otherwise the buttons won't show up in the emulator.

Then learn the commands. Best way to learn commands is to creat a device (call it codes) populate the pages with relatively small plain buttons, and learn all your commands to these buttons. Then alias buttons in the rest of your ccf to these. That way you only have to learn each command once, and trouble shooting is easier.

Check the files area under "component" ccfs.

Hi Jim, thanks for your response, it;s got me started at least! If you don't mind, could you elaborate on what you mean by 'putting a delay in the action list'? I was wondering how and why I would do this.

I understand what you mean by creating a dummy device for the purpose of teching it codes but wouldn't this result in loads and loads of buttins in this device? Also, how do I create an alias in the software?

Thanks again for your help.

Simon,

Yes it will create lots of buttons, make them just small enough to contain a label for what the code is. They don't need to be fancy, this device won't be used during normal operation. An alternate way to do this is put your code page(s) in the device to which the codes belong. I.e. all receiver codes on a page in the receiver device, TV codes in the TV device etc. This works better if you ever intend to use the RF capabilities of the 9200.

As far as delays, action lists, and aliases are concerned, create a button, double click on it, then select the action tab. This presents a list of all the "actions" this button does. Note in the left column is a set of buttons to add actions to the list. If your action list is empty, the button won't show in the emulator or on the remote. This is why I suggested adding a delay (from the left column) initially. When you want to actually add an IR code (or multiple codes) to the list, click on "alias" find the code you want (it's in the device with the code) and add it. You can also add jumps to another page/device in this manner.

Download a couple of ccfs from the files area, look at the buttons/action lists, then run the emulator to get an idea of how this works.
