I'm learning the codes for a Yamaha DVDS540 dvd player in to my Pronto and having an odd occurance. The first time I try the code it works, but any subsequent tries nothing happens. A code goes out but does not control the unit. This is primarily on menu controls, i.e. up, down, left, right, etc.

Any ideas?

There is an exact ccf file for your model:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

However that just tells me that your DVD uses the RC6 command Protocol and that has a toggle bit. If you use that ccf file, you will still have the problem since a toggle bit is one of the data bits in the IR command that alternates every time you release and press the button again.

I have converted the command to the database format and hopefully your model of the Pronto supports that. If it does it should solve the problem. A few of the commands with missing labels are probably valid commands that were associated with buttons that didn't have labels when decoded with John Fines DecodeCCF program. (BTW, don't paste in the labels -- only the hex into the IR command in Pronto Edit) I have added the typical discrete commands but I don't know whether they will work for this model.

I just tried converting the above thread for dvds520 on the universal browser for a mx700 and the discrete power commands seem to act as a toggle. I got the same result using discrete power commands (phillips) in my Niles database.
I have also tried converting the database format to IR on my Crestron/DEAL program and it will not recognize the format. Also, the codes I generated from make hex using the pdf supplied by Yamaha did not control the unit at all after I used the ccf converter from crestron (I have not had a lot of experience using make hex and very likely am missing something). Any help or suggestions would be helpful, I am controlling a DVDC750 (same power code according to pdf files from Yam) with an intellicontrol and just hate having to use a light sensor (video sync never seems to work on the yamaha product)
Thanks
Chris

The i.r. codes are toggle codes. Each button on the original remote has two codes. Only one can be taught to a learning remote. However, there is something you can do. Find a button on the original DVD remote that doesn't seem to do anything ( like "clear" ). Now double-up every command you teach into your new remote. For every button you teach, tap "clear" followed as quickly as possible by the button you want. Once you've taught each button, check them all to see if they will work twice in a row. Pay special attention to curser controls. You may have to use another button other than "clear" if it messes up.
