My wife just broke our pronto ts1000 after 2-3 years of great service. She dropped the remote and cracked the screen. I'm sure I can send this in for service, but if I bought a new pronto remote will my old configuration files work on the new remotes? So I don't have to go through all that again?

If so can reccomend a model or version I should go with? Can't believe how many different prontos there are now!

there are not that many. Actually at the moment there is only the TSU-3000 (it replaced the TSU-2000 that replaced the TS-1000) that is in production. The TSU-6000 (ProntPro) is a colour version of the 1000/2000 and is being replaced at the end of this year by the TSU-7000 ProntoPro.

The 3000/7000 use PCF files instead of CCF files. But the editor for the 3000 can import CCF files. But whatever remote you get chances are you will want to do a major edit of your CCF. The 6000 is colour, the 3000 uses 16 shades of grey, lets you edit 100% of the screen and has many more buttons. Even though the 7000 is not out yet, it will be colour and have the features of the 3000.

So the answer is yes, you can use your old CCF in the new Pronto you will get, but chances are you would want to spend the time to create a new config

P.S. there is also the iPronto that is out, it is a colour remote, but it is in a tablet format. Its editor can also import CCFs, but 1 CCF screen is around 1/4 of the display
