I have a several TV's and videos that I am trying to create hex codes for as I do not have origianl remotes.

I am using pronto pro compatible ccf files in an iPAQ PDA using WinPDA Remote Controler.

Using a Maxview 2in1 unit I have managed to get some working codes for Volume, Pwr and 1,2,3,4.

Putting these hex codes in to IR Tool brings up Device 0 and command 0 for each code, despite each code having a different function.

I am lost as to what to do next. The test code ccf file is at link below, if anyone has time to have a look for me, or tell me what to do next.

All of the IR codes work, doing the stated functions on the ccf. They were produced by a Maxview 2in1 and then learned on a iPAQ using PDA Win TV remote controller.

The remote control prog (PDAWin) uses ccf files produced on ProntoPro Edit

Have you tried the Toshiba TV files in the file sections?? Toshiba uses the Nec protocol and the TV's seem to be device 64 so you could use makehex or prontoutil to generate the codes.

There are better versions of IR Tool available and there are much better programs than IR Tool (such as DecodeCCF in the Yahoo JP1 forum) for decoding the contents of CCF files.

However, there's nothing in that particular CCF that any of those programs understand.

It seems to be a simple 6-bit protocol (64 possible commands, no device number).

I've never heard of a Toshiba device using anything like that. Toshiba is pretty consistent about using the NEC1 protocol.


I can't tell what help you're looking for. I think you're saying that the Pronto Hex from that file (moved to some other universal remote system) correctly controls your device. Are you looking for missing commands? Are you looking for cleaner Pronto Hex (those look like pretty dirty learns)? Are you looking for help with some other device?

My MakeHex program could be used to create clean Pronto Hex for all 64 possible commands in that protocol. It would take me just a slightly more careful examination of those hex commands in order to write the .IRP file to tell MakeHex to do that (Reply, if you want me to try that).

Yes, If you could create the other 64 codes in that protocol, that would be a great help.

This particular Toshiba TV C-1406B is an old colour portable, and I do not have any original remote for it. For this particular device, I am looking for a set of codes for basic use of the thing. I have a few of the channel numbers 1-4, program channel down and volume. Would like codes for 5,6,7,8,9, and AV also the P+ code, colour change codes as well if possible.

The problem I am having here is one of money and the fact that the girlfriend left about 6 months ago with Pronto Pro, TV, CD DVD player etc etc. I am having to get some sort of HiFi/TV setup back together for minimum money. This means I have a range of second hand kit, mostly without remotes. Just working on getting one at a time working at the moment.

Below is my first guess at what these should look like. This form is very much "cleaned up" from the ones in the CCF, which makes them much smaller and, if I'm right, will make them work a little better.

If I'm wrong, we'll need to try a slightly less cleaned up version, leaving in some of the features of the ones in that CCF that I think are due to bad learning.

If we need to try again, we ought to switch to email, since a less cleaned up version would be an even bigger post.

No, those cleaned up codes do not work,

although I have not tried them all, only the ones you said corresponded to my original codes.

I had previously used a program when I had the Pronto Pro called IR Panels to create ccf files from lists of created hex codes. I have downloaded a copy this evening to compile the ccf from your codes but it is not working. it constantly comes up with a run time error 5, so I have had to copy and paste codes one at a time in to new buttons.

Found the prob using IR panels, I needed to add "Device 0:" in front of the Function:XXX word in order to allow IR panels to accept it. But no,still no joy with all codes.

I didn't know you intended to use IR Panels or I would have left the device 0 part in. (There isn't actually a device number, but IR Panels needs to see one).

The biggest difference between the cleaned up version and the ones in that CCF is that the CCF has a fixed number of copies of the frame. It's hard to believe that matters, but maybe a minimum number matters.

If you have just one IR signal on a button (not a sequence) then I'd expect an ordinary press to generate the required minimum number of frames, but maybe I've misestimated that and a longer press is required. If you put a sequence of actions on one key then a longer press makes no difference and the default probably isn't long enough.

Assuming the length of press doesn't solve it, I'll try tomorrow to construct a few versions of less cleaned up signals. We need to find out which aspect of the signal that I thought was bad learning is really a significant feature. Then it will be possible to make all 64 signals in MakeHex.EXE

It is now, 0630, and I am just off to work, so no time now till this evening.

I have only just started using this program PDA win on the iPAQ, and am not sure how it supports single press/press and hold signals, I do not know if there is a repeat or not. Will have to play more on that front.
