My HT has two display devices -- a direct view TV and a front projector. Most (but not all) of the inputs are common to both devices. The DVD player is different and the power-off sequence is as well.
It's a pretty complex system with a matrix switch that I'm trying to make simple to improve WAF.
What I'd like to do is save (and be able to somehow read) which display the user picked at the startup screen. My kids are used to pressing the HOME pad to pick a new input device (e.g. switch from Tivo to Xbox). I'd like the Home screen to vary depending on what was chosen initially.
Any thoughts?
Alternatively, is there a way to disable the Home pad function comopletely so that they have to press a button to go back? That would more or less work, although I'd need to add an extra button to every single screen.
I can't believe that I'm the first person to want to do this.

Use te 2 useless hard buttons on the bottom of the remote for HOME Projector and Home TV. Make your HOME page 2 buttons.. TV and PROJO. Then even if they end up back on the home page by accident, they gott go to what they are currently using for video.

when you click home, it brings you to the last home panel. So what you can do is create two (or three) home panels.
For instance panel 1= two buttons use TV (jump to panel 2, setup for TV)- use projector (jump to panel 3 setup for projector)
panel 2= pick the activity for TV and a button to change display device that jumps to panel 1 (and closes the TV)
panel 3= pick the activity for FP and a button to change display device that jumps to panel 1 (and turns of the projector)
but you could get rid of 1 and have 2 jump to 3 and 3 jump to 2
