I can't find the codes for a Sony SLV-N500 VCR. I did a search and found pages of other Sony models. Are many of the Sony codes interchangable between models? Is there one that I can use that will work on the N500?

Thank you.

Sony default if VTR 3 for VHS VCR's Dont even worry much about a similar model number. VTR 3 is VTR3

Well, a close model number is just to try to get a similar set of features. I know my M91HF has a lot of oddball buttons not on other models.

True, but sony has had some oddball Model numbering systems the past few years..... Going from three digits, to two, now back to three...

From my experience with Sony VCRs, I've noticed they all seem to respond to the same basic commands. But only certain models (Ones with addressable remotes) will respond to discretes.

I'll give the N51 and N55 a try this weekend and see what happens, basically just looking for the transport functions.

A few years ago, they had three code sets. Used to be VCRs came set to code 1. Some models came with switches so you could select the code. Recently the ones I have seen use code set 3.

We don't have these in the files section?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
