I have a TSU2000 and a brand new charger/battery. After recharging for several hours, the light on the charger goes off.

I try learn a new button but the message of low power immediately goes on.

Is it possible that the TSU 2000 itself is broken in such a way that it just burns out batteries?

Before the charger/battery purchase, it was burning out alkalne batteries in 2-3 days.

Susggestions please.

After several hours the battery indicator on the TSU2000 disappears. After only a few minutes of use off the charger, the low battery indicator blinks and I can no longer either use the learn mode or up/download files.

Is there another battery meter?

I went to the charger/battery setup because the TSU2000 was going through either alkaline batteries in a day or two or NiMH AA batteries within a few hours.

I am wondering if the remote itself has developed a problem (intermittent short?)

This has become quite frustrating because I am still trying to update the programing to add several new items.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The setup menu has a more detailed battery meter (hold the icon of the remote for a few seconds). Would be good to see if the problem is that it's mis-reading the batteries, or if it really is sucking them down. Did you do a voltage check on the alkalines when the remote claimed they were empty?

Slight problem there. If the low battery indidcator is on, then he won't be able to go into the set up menu to view the battery meter.

Even with my little trick to force the remote to read the battery correctly won't work unless the remote doesn't show the low battery icon.

If you however do get it to a point where the low icon isn't there, then here's my instructions on what to do......

Go into set up menu. By pressing on the pronto icon for 2 to 3 seconds.

Scroll down to page 2, where the light level meter is located.

Press on the button that says "Level" This will hightlight it.

Use the left hard button under the lcd screen to bring down the level to nothing, or all the way to the left.

Exit set up by pressing on the pronto icon once again.

Remove the battery pack from the remote for TWO minutes.

Replace the battery pack back into the remote. Let it reboot and stuff. There is no need to go back into set up menu to adjust the light level, as it should be back where it was before you did this. However, if you want to go check on the battery level on the first page. You might as well go to the second page to check on the light level.
