I am new to the Pronto. I got a Proto Pro 3 days ago. I needed to get a serial to USB converter (Belken) because my computer has no serial port. I properly configured it to COM1, and I was sucessful in updateing the firmware to Ver 1.4. Therefore, I conclude, the serial port works. When I try to upload or download a ccf file, it hangs and says COM1 opened:no response from remote device.

Am I missing something?

Probably need to tap the Pronto's screen to wake it up just prior to communications.

Belkin does not play nicely with PE. If you MUST use the Belkin, get Tonto. Otherwise, I'd suggest running to Radio Shack and picking up their generic USB to serial adapter. Also, it must be set to either COM1 or COM2 with PE. Cheers.
