I have gone crazy trying to solve why some of our computers running ProntoEdit/ChadEdit(in XP) will not display the entire string of a command's hex code, and others will, when we want to view it or copy it. At least, in ProntoEdit version 1.05, the whole code starts out Highlighted so I can copy it. But in the other malfunctioning programs, I can only select the first nine hex groups of the string. If I delete the first nine groups, the remaining "invisible" groups that were off to the right, drop in to the left and show, while any more groups in the string are still hidden off to the right, without properly wrapping to the lower rows! I cannot find any settings anywhere in my system that affect word wrap, either! Past Forum posts mentioned that "Large Fonts" may be enabled causing this, but I don't have Large Fonts enabled that I know of (Certainly not in my main disply properties) !!! I have the same COMCTL32.DLL in the each of my computers' Windows\System32 directories, so I don't think it is that either. My current workaround is to convert any version 2.0 and Chad ccf-files to "Old Pronto Files" using ProntoEdit 2.0, and then work with the "already highlighted" partially invisible code strings in ProntoEdit version 1.05. But this Stinks. I can't tell you what "changes" were made to the computers that have the problem, because so many different changes, MS updates, and software had been installed in each that there is nothing specific we can point to to understand "When" they may have started having this problem. They all have every MS-XP update installed, and have the same AntiVirus and other utilities on them. It's a troubleshooting dilemma! Of course, I have already tried unInstalling all Pronto, and Chad programs and reInstalling. (No Good) Furthermore, I have tried all settings of the Pronto.ini file, as set by the ProntoINI.exe utility (also without success). Anybody else heard of this trouble, or solve it yet?

For a start you should not be usnig PE 1.05 or 2.0 - you should use 4.05.
The causes of this problem have been in the past using large fonts and/or running your screen at too low a resolution. You need a minimum of 800 x 600 if using normal fonts, or larger if using large fonts.

I have had this problem for a while, when I posted it I received the same response as you.1024x768, normal font size. I would be interested in any solution. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Well Peter, as usual, you are correct that version 4.05 does NOT have these errors, and the program DOES have many of the things brought back related to ease-of-use that I loved in Version 1.05 (and missed in Version 2.0), except for finding the entire hex string ALREADY HIGHLIGHTED (for ease of copying or pasting over) when you "view code". At least, the program "remembers" to "Show" the code every time if it is not set to "Hide" it. Also, I see that the command Labels work now! Excellent! I was wrong to be a "doubting Thomas" (which IS my name coincidentally), and I should not have assumed that 4.05 would continue to have all the same things that I disliked in prvious versions except 1.05 . By the way, I supect that the "code wrap" problem I originally wrote about above is related to the video drivers. The suggestions in your reply do not fix the problem. I have tried all resolutions, Font sizes, color depths, and have the latest "ATI Mobility Radeon 16MB" video drivers installed on my "Dell Latitude C610" Laptop with Windows-XP-Home on it, and I use a resolution of 1400 X 1050, & color depth: 16bpp or 32 bpp. That should be "high enough" to correct it. Anyhow, I guess I'll be using version 4.05 henceforth.

OK. I FOUND WHAT CAUSES THE CODE "NOT WRAPPING", NOT FULLY SHOWING, PROBLEM !!!!!!!! IN WIN-XP.
Right click the shortcut for the ProntoEdit program and go to "Properties".
Under the "Compatibility" tab, make sure that the box in front of "Run In Compatibility Mode" is UNCHECKED. Click "OK" and "OK".
This fixes the problem, allowing the full hex code string to wrap properly and show fully in the view pane, when requested.
