When I load Pronto Edit on my computer it asks me to select between TSU1000 and TSU2000. My remote says on the back that it is a TSU1000, however I have been using the TSU2000 selection in Pronto Edit. What is the difference? Does it matter what I use? Should I switch to TSU1000?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The difference is the amount of memory the remote has...

Ugh, do I have to come in here and make corrections????

Just kidding with you Matt....

However, Adam

Look on the back of your remote again. Does it say "TS-1000 or does it really say TSU-1000?

It should say TS-1000. The U stands for universal. Which means it has a data base of ir codes built in, in which the TS-1000 does not have a built in data base of ir codes.

Matt is correct in respect with memory.

You can use ccf from either the 1000 or 2000, the only thing that will change is the data base. So if you were to download a ccf from this site, and the person who made it, used the data base. You'll lose that information and you would have to learn the ir codes yourself.

If your remote does say ts-1000 on the back, it's best that you make the ProntoEdit as a ts-1000, so that the memory won't be a factor. Just in case you try to download a large ccf into the remote, and you have PE set on tsu-2000, it can damage the remote. However, if you set PE to ts-1000, it won't even try to download a large ccf in the first place.

you might also run into trouble if pe is configured to tsu2000 and you attempt a firmware upgrade into a ts1000.
