I just got the Pronto TSU2000. I began playing with the Pronto edit software and designing the panels with buttons and logos I downloaded from this site.

Everything seems to be going okay except the emulator does not show all of the buttons that I have placed on the panel...Is this a problem?

In terms of programing the remote, do I create the panels on the software, load them into the remote the learn the signals into each button? Is there a way to create the IR codes and or discrete codes on the computer then load the completed setup into the remote?

Could someone briefly explain how I use the tabs to create several pages on one panel? I would like to create discrete codes linked to TV channel logos for my tv.

After I set it up and get everything running what do I need to do when/if I add a new piece of equipment??

That's all for now. Thanks in advance for your help!

This is normal if the buttons have no actions. (A jump only counts if the panel to be jumped to has at least a button with an action). See the FAQ:

That's an approach many of us use. If you do that
be sure that you upload the learned codes into
prontoedit before you start changing the ccf.
But your other approach is also used:

Is there a way to create the IR codes and or discrete
codes on the computer then load the completed
setup into the remote?

Yes, you can:
- copy codes from example ccfs
- or use the internal IR database of the pronto
- or you can generate codes (if you know what you're doing) with e.g. irtool and copy/paste it into PE.
Could someone briefly explain how I use the tabs
to create several pages on one panel? I would
like to create discrete codes linked to TV channel
logos for my tv.

In PE, you have to hand-code the panel logic. Using PE, you might use standard panel-bitmaps, which are included in some of the big gallery files in the file section here.

Tonto (the alternative to PE) has more support for panels, you describe the layout, and Tonto programs the jump-logic for you. I never used it though.

After I set it up and get everything running what
do I need to do when/if I add a new piece of equipment??

Be sure to synchronize the Pronto and PE first,
so you know you will edit the right ccf version,
then just add the new device in PE, and download
to the Pronto again. No magic.

Good luck,
Maarten

Thanks for the quick response!

Anything else that I should know that will help me out along the way?

Thanks again!

As far as codes are concerned, the concensus for the "best" approach is to create a device (call it IR codes) and populate it with panels - one or two panels for each piece of gear (TV, VCR etc). Create simple, ugly buttons on these panels (they'll never be DISPLAYED on the remote), and learn ALL your codes to these buttons. When you start creating your user interface, just alias to these buttons.

This allows you to learn each command only once (makes trouble shooting much easier). If you change gear, you can just relearn the codes for the new equipment over the top of the old codes and be up and running with minimal problems.
