I admit it...I am a cut and paster! There, I have finally said it. When I start a new ccf, I merge devices from other's ccfs. Then, I move them down to the macro section so I can create alias to these buttons with my buttons on the new device pages. Why does this work (sometimes) for some devices and not others? To add to the confusion, when I know I will use the device again for another ccf and have tested it, I seem to have a 50/50 chance of it working the next time it is used. Any ideas are very appreciated.

I work with Chads, Pronto, and Pros and use a USB to serial adapter if it matters.

Since you said that you are a cut and paster. Then I wouldn't have to worry about you learning any of the ir code via the software program. But if you are learning ir codes, besure to download the ccf into the remote, learn the codes. Upload back into the pc and save the ccf with the codes.

Not all codes will be perfectly clean. Nor will codes that are dirty not work all the time. Even if they are "dirty" they still can work, but then other times they won't work.

Just because you found the codes on a web site, this one or any other, doesn't mean that the ir codes are clean.

Rob,

I appreciate your comments about posted codes not always working. Thank you for taking the time to post. Some of my problem configurations are ones I have used before and worked fine.

Does anyone know if the merging process or moving codes to the macro section can cause any problems? How about anything in settings? Some ccfs in the device download section state that they are made to be aliased to; these codes should still work when tested by them self...right?

How about anything in settings?

Merging ccfs, or cut and pasting codes does not cause any problems with ir codes. Moving ir codes to the macro, home, device sections does nothing. Settings, once again, does nothing to the ir code. Even if you set it to RF, if allowed. When setting a device setting to rf, all it does is send the ir code rf instead of ir. Again, does nothing to the ir code itself.

Yes they should work by them selfs.

But maybe some of the buttons you have stolen (no insult intended; that's how I describe it when I do it) do not actually have IR codes, but were aliased in the ccf you used, and you deleted the source for their aliased code. I did this once and got real confused real fast.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

King,
Thank you for all your help!

Ernie,
Thank you for your help as well. I did check to make sure the "C" code was there...made that mistake before too!
