This should be simple. I have a home theater setup using a Pronto for control (excellent!!) I use MusicMatch software on a PC for MP3 playout and I want to use the Pronto to activate keyboard commands on the PC. Haven't found an answer yet. Does anyone know of a IR to PC interface? I'm thinking serial, but any answer would be great!

Phillips makes (or used to make) an IR keyboard for PCs that would allow you to use the 'mouse' mode for the Pronto (oh, that's what that is for, and I thought it was only good for clenaing the screen....LOL) and you can use the keyboard with integrated mouse pointer to control your PC.

I have an uploaded CCF with the keyboard implemented into panels with all of the keystrokes learned. HTH-Carl

There's a program called "girder" at http://www.girder.nl/
and Packard Bell makes a remote (which is useless) called fast media remote that has a serial ir receiver(the useful part).
If you setup ir codes from your pronto to the girder program, you're pretty much limitless. There's lots of plugins and its easy to create macros.
The fast media remote costs 10 bucks on ebay and girder is free.

Evation IRman is also a good receiver that Girder fully supports.
