I have macros (i.e. "Watch DVD") to turn everything on and set everything up correctly.

Just bought a RPTV last week (Mits 65511), and had to program a 5 second delay between turning on the TV and changing the input. Not too bad if the TV is off, but when you are switching from one task to another, and the TV is on, that delay, compounded with all the other delays and tasks in the macro, seems like an eternity.

It normal for the TV to take so long to respond to commands when it's powered up?

How about placing the on ir code in the start of the macro. Then in the between the on ir code and the input selector. Place all of the other ir codes. Which turn on the dvd player, play and stuff like that.

A 5 sec delay at turn on is a little long, but not unusual. I'm sure your TV doesn't need the 5 sec delay if it's already turned on. What you need to do is have the 5 sec macro on your home page for initial turn on and use a different macro without this delay when you just what to switch activities. This requires some planning in laying out your navigation.

Yep, already verified that.

I guess I'll have to live with the delay.
Oh, well, life can be worse, right? :-)

Yea, Mit's RPTVs have a pretty long delay. If your tv supports their "active network" thing you can turn that on in the tv's menu, then if you send it a mits vcr play command it will turn on and go to input 1 automatically, no delay. Really useful if everything's switched on one input on the tv, that way the macros are really short.

I hadn't thought of that.
Yes, my Mits has all that Netguide or whatever they call it.

I'll look into that...thanks.

I, too, have a RPTV Mits and can confirm that the TV needs a good 5 - 7 seconds to get up and running before you can send it codes (same deal as my Denon Receiver).

I found that the best way to handle the initial delay is to ignore it. That is, put in 0.1 sec delays between all of the different commands in my macros (watch DVD, watch, TV, etc). I choose the activity I want and if need be wait a few seconds, go back to the home page and repress the same button.

I find that this is not inconvenient and that I don't have to wait through long delays over and over. The other people who use my system don't find it a problem, either.

I use a "SYSTEM ON" which kicks me to a "Select Source" page System on is about a 8 second macro that turns on TV and Receiver. Select Source buttons just select Inputs at that point. WHen I'm done, I hit System off, which flips me to the "System ON" page.
