OK - this is as weird as a problem as I have ever seen.
I am using a Pronto Pro, with the RF extender, with a Scientific Atlanta 3100HD cable box.
For some reason, sometimes but not always, when I hit the channel up or channel down button, the channels start flying like crazy - they can jump up as little as one or two channels, or as much as a never-ending stream of channel flipping that can only be stopped by turning off the system.
Its definately the RF extender, because:
1. I've tried the cable box IR remote, and the Pronto Pro set in IR mode without any problems
2. I've tried the Pro w/ RF on a SA 2200 cable box with the same result
This has only recently started happening - I have had this setup for over 6 months without any problems.
Here comes there weirdest thing, during a loop, even if I pull out the power of the IR extender, the channels keep flying - this would imply that the command has already been sent to the cable box.
Anyone ever see anything like this before? I'm thinking that I need to call Philips and try to get a replacement, but how do I even explain this???

As silly as this sounds, make sure the battery is charged enough. I'm not sure if this applies to the RF Extender but a small problem i've had with my PRO is that when the battery dies the remote locks on a button and repeatedly sends the same command until the battery is dead or recharged beyond a certain point.
If that is not the answer then I am as baffled as you.

You could try the extender with a different Extender ID and/or channel to see if the problem persists. You could also reflash the firmware to the Pro, sometimes this solves weird problems. I've had hard button problems that this solved occasionally. Jim L

Also, try relearning the ir codes, specaily all of them for the cable box. Even though it's just the channel up and down buttons.

I have temporarily (maybe not so temporary) replaced the RF module with an old multi-room IR setup, which works great. It may actually be working better than the RF ever worked (still testing).
