Just wanted everyones opinion on this. I am looking to purchase a Pronto pro but have several questions:

1) What is the most I should pay for it and what internet site is the best to buy at?

2) Will my wife be able to operate it? I have a Sony 3000 now and she can use that fine.

3) How do you program the thing? I downloaded the software and fooled around with it for awhile and it looks difficult to program.

4) Has anyone every used www.bluedo.com?

Any input would be appreciated.

That question would only be answerable if we have met your wife or you described her capabilities. Related question - will you be able to operate it?

2) probably, if she can use the 3000 I cannot see why she would not be able to use the Pronto

3) just play with it, and try some CCFs from this site. It is not difficult, but it does take some getting used to

Diddo...It looks hard at first and has a bit of a learning curve but after a week or some of messing around with it every night it starts to get easy...

as for whether your wife can use it or not..I would say yes but it is up to you. My wife is horrible with electronics so that I why I bought my Pronto Pro (paid 990, but have seen them new on ebay for around 700). Basically if you take your time and plan and program with details in mind you can make the most complex system a snap to operate, through the use of macros and button aliases...but it requires alot of work on your part.

My philosophy is that you can't teach an old wife new remotes...and that had been the case, right thru my last Sony universal -- but the ProntoPro made it easy for her. Especially since she can now hit one button, and turn everything on or off, as well as one button to have the VCR and TV change inputs and turn on everything she needs for the DVD (stops those phone calls I got while I was traveling!).

I paid $400 for a factory-refurb ProntoPro on EBay, and have been 100% happy (even had a service issue covered by Philips).
