I would really like to change several of the default buttons to something more fun or attractive in the firmware. I have found the application to do so and have extracted all the old artwork from a firmware exe in order to do so. Does anyone have any clipart available that will directly replace certain firmware art? I'd like to see what everyone else who has tried this has ended up with so I have an idea what the limitations might be. Please e-mail any art or information you might have at [email protected] . Thanks for your time.

The limitations are absolute:

The replacement bitmap must be identical in pixel dimensions to the one you're replacing, and the size of the image, in bytes, must be the same size or smaller.

Dale, icons in a ccf are saved by pixel (i.e. any 10x10 button will be the same size in bytes), does the firmware, use an optimized size (i.e. simpler looking buttons take up less space)

debennet, if you are talking about DEFAULT buttons, these are not in the firmware, but come from any bitmap files you like, or are already in Galleries you can use.

The formware updater changes the graphics in the firmware that you normally cannot change such as the graphics for the scroll buttons.

Anthony,

On the pro, many of the graphics are compressed internally, using RLE. So to make new firmware graphics work, you often have to count the number of transitions per line and make sure you use that number or less. In truth, what really matters is the number of transitions in the entire file, but not many people are willing to count every pixel shift to find that number.

So does anyone know who might have a "hacked" firmware with their own custom artwork? I'd like to see if anyone has actually done this.

Yes, I've done it for clients. I unfortunately cannot share the results, due to confidentiality agreements.

ImgRep can replace any bitmaps with the same dimensions (width and height), but if source image is compressed, the target must not exceed its compressed size. I have use more accurate comression algorithm, but if your image is really more complex than replasing one, it can not squeeze it into that place. Look for process log in order to know where to reduce image complexity.

I have never listen about ready cliparts, and the only my set - is partially cyrillized firmware for RU970/TSU6000 based on old Darnitol's theme.
