Below is a quote from another thread I have come across. These codes are suppose to be for the TV I am about to have delivered. If anyone can tell me what I need to convert this into 4-bit Pronto hex, I'd be very appreicative. I am basically trying to save time by having the remote setup for the set before it arrives as it is scheduled for delivering on my birthday. If anyone has any info please feel free to email me at [email protected] ... I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Enter these codes with NeoHacker (learned IR code)."

Those are ProntoNeo codes. You want Pronto codes. Since the Pronto has been out for far longer, it might pay to take a look around this site to see if such codes exist for your Sony TV?

Thanks Daniel, but I've looked up and down for Pronto codes for this set and had no luck. This search as been going on for a few months (It's taken me that long to finally buy the TV). Is there any way to convert those Neo codes to Pronto? Thanks.

Those codes were converted from the Pronto codes. That should tell you something. :-) I really really really suggest you click on FILES.

The problem is that there is no such device as the 36XBR800 in the files section nor do I know which file specifically these codes were derived from. As I do not have the tv yet, I cannot test out codes until one works. I simply want to have the codes set so when the TV DOES get here I don't have to waste time with my Pronto. Thanks.

You should find that other TV models will have the same codes.

All Sony TVs made since 1985 use the same basic codes. And the input codes you want can be found under the Discrete Codes section.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that the Sony codes were all so similar..that's good news. I found what I was looking for then I guess, now just to figure out what buttons I need or can use. Thanks a lot though.

You can set up basic stuff, like keypad, display, jump, inputs, etc. beforehand, but for everything else you may want to wait until your 36XBR800 arrives so you can tell exactly what codes you need and where.

If you're eager, you can see what the 36XBR800 remote looks like here.

I have a KF-60XBR800, which has almost identical functions, except I notice that the KV-36XBR800's remote has DRC MODE/PALETTE buttons not on my remote. I suspect that MODE changes between 480p/960i (which wouldn't apply to my set which is always at 768p) but PALETTE might be interesting. :-)

There's always a lot more codes for Sony TVs than merely what comes on the factory remote.
