Just picked up a Pronto TS-1000. I'm having trouble learning the IR codes from my two Toshiba devices (TV=36AF42 & DVD=SD-3800). The learning apprears to be successful and I can view the IR code. However, nothing happens when I press the button. I didn't see IR codes for these two devices in the file archives. Any Ideas on what I might be doing wrong? Are there other devices in the file archives that use the same IR codes? Thanks for any help.

Two possible suggestions:

1 - If you're trying to learn through the software (i.e. attached to the computer), don't. Try learning directly on the remote, then upload to the computer.

2 - Press and HOLD the OEM remote's key (as opposed to a quick tap) until the Pronto says OK.

Don't know if any of the Tosh's in the files section use the same codes. You might also look in the features section for some "tips" on learning IR codes.

Don't forget to check the batteries in both remotes. IR is like a flashlight, low batteries = weak signal = dirty code.

Failing the above, what do the IR codes look like?

I've tried most of those ideas without any luck. Here is the IR code for the TV On/Off. I have no idea what it should look like. Any thoughts?
0000 006d 0022 0002 0157 00ac 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 0603 0157 0055 0016 0e59

It looks EXACTLY like my code from remote SE-0039 for this DVD-player, and it works fine at that AV system. May be you plugs power cord of DVD to receiver and tries to turn it on when receiver is stand by?
Try to control another equipment to check Pronto IR ability at all.

Looks identical to other Toshiba TV Power codes I see. Your remote works on other things?

Here's a test.

Get a cam corder. Go into a slightly dark room for best results.

Point the remote at the cam and watch it on the tv. Can you see the pronto send out the ir codes?

Note this.

If it does sends out the ir codes. Do not try to compare them to the other sets of ir codes that does work. For an idea of what I mean. Look at the devices that is a panasonic, and compare to the pioneer.

If it doesn't send a singel. Then I do not know what do to besides a firmware update/reflash.

I just got a TS-1000. I also have a Toshiba SD-2800 DVD player and the Pronto works perfectly with it (so far). I did notice that, contrary to what the manual says, I had to hold the OEM remote pretty close to the Pronto to get it to "learn" (more like 2 inches, rather than 6-8) and, as somebody else pointed out, I had to hold the buttons for quite a while (2-5 sec) before the unit would accept them. This was true of my other remotes as well (Sony, Motorola).

I actually got it to turn the TV on/off by pressing the button twice rapidly. This worked about 20% of the time. Any thoughts what might be happening?

RM,

I would try either holding the remote until a beep sounds, or, a quick press of the button with the remote a varying distances away from the pickup.

What are the remote control model numbers, I may be able to help you....all the SD DVD players appear to have the same codes. Email me direct and I could possibly send you a full file.
