Can anybody help me. I purchased a new laptop computer, to replace my
home computer, but found out that it doesn't have a RS232 port to
connect to my Pronto TS1000....

Is there a new cable that connects directy to my TS1000 or am I
screwed.... Do I have to update my to the newest Pronto?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to buy a Serial to USB Adapter. Many have had luck with a Keyspan USA19W (or something like that), Belkin also makes one that has some success.

But it's a crapshoot . . . . . what works for one on the same OS, with similar settings, doesn't work for another person. Don't get a PDA Converter either, most have no luck with those. (though some do).

There are tales of people buying and returning multiple adapters before finding one that will work.

There are also issues with COM Ports, often as well.

Do a Forum Search using the keywords  serial +"usb adapter*"  (for a year should get you plenty of hits).

Just a side question; You do know your "Name" says CRATEivguy, and not CREATEivguy . . . . . right?
