Do a search for "merge" and "CCF" and go from there.

let me re-phrase my question....i notice that the remote, when at the main page, i am trying to change the brand of my cab/sat... when i press eother cab or sat button, NOTHING happens... it shows no new menu for that particular function... i am assuming if i go to the ravedit program, i can change the properties of that particular device?? is this correct??? can i change most of my properties at ravedit then dowload to the remote?? thanks!!

I don't own a RAV but rather several Marantz's. However, the remotes typically contain devices that are flagged as 'templates'. I never use them. I always learn IR and edit CCFs using the software.
For device codes not in the IR database that resides both inside the remote and in RavEdit, you will have to download CCFs and merge them in using RavEdit. You will be able to create new or edit existing devices, etc... in RavEdit. I suggest that you download it ASAP as it provide you with a better idea as to how things are organized inside the remote.
For instructions on merging CCFs, please search this forum as this question has been answered several times already in the past 2 weeks.

B6-07 How can I best merge CCF files? But don't stop there, scroll up to the top of that page and (Return to Index). . . . . and read the whole FAQ over & over & over. Also- Click on the links in the box below, in particular you will find : the FAQ, Reviews, Play With It, Phases, Planning and ALIAS.CCF helpful when just starting out.
And remember when you ask questions to be specific in your Heading and very specific in your question, including precisely what your problem/question is and what model Remote you have and what OS you are using on your PC.
Also, don't forget the Search Forum at the bottom of the Page. It may seem slow but it is VERY thourough and don't be mislead by the "0%" you will see on the first screen, it is only a progress marker.
