Yesterday, when I got home, I picked up my Pronto and the backlight no longer is working on the screen. It was working fine the day before. The side buttons still light, but not the main screen. I reloaded the firmware and configuration files hoping to correct the problem, but to no avail.
Is this a hardware problem, or does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks.
John

If the hard button doesn't work, it might have been dropped. Anything rattling around inside?
Otherwise, try the ol' "12 hours without power" trick.

I don't think it dropped and there's othing rattling around... but, I do have kids, so, who knows.
Daniel... the "12 hour trick"... Do you mean remove the batteries for 12 hours?
thanks

I have exactly the same problem. Think it was dropped as it seems to garner a lot of attention from my 11mos old.
Any fixes?

If your willing to open the case and do a little soldering you could try replacing the L1 inductor. It's the most likely culprit. See here for repair instructions: [Link: joey6p.com]. The bullets at the bottom of the page are links to pictures. Here's a thread with more info: [Link: remotecentral.com]. Jim L
