Hello Prontoland!!
I have been using pronto for a while and I now have the need to add a subwoofer level +/- buttons to the remote. Again I have the Sony STR-V55ES Receiver and I have both the touchscreen remote and the handheld remote. The handheld only has the rear and center level adjustment buttons. The touchscreen has a Sub Level Button and I can get the codes from this. The funny thing is that the Touchscreen remote codes only output incrementally – in other words, If I Learn the plus button and while learning the receiver shows the level to be on +1, That is all that button will do.
It would be good to have a + button that keeps going + and vice-versa with the minus.
Oh – and one more thing, My receiver is on command mode 2 (Reason: 2nd reciever for 2nd room) (If that matters for this code?)
Anyone got these codes for discrete sub level + and – buttons???? – Pleeeaaaaasssseeee???????
tanks gise!!

If I understand you corectly, the button you have learnt only increments once, rather than continuously increment while you keep the button pressed.
If this is the case, you probably have not learnt the button properly. While learning, keep it pressed until your Pronto beeps.

Sorry,
The Code for the Sub + in the Sony remote that came with the 555ES will not work in may situation (Unless I learn each code (+10, +9, +8...0... -1, -2, ... -10) individually and make a slider bar routine. UGHHHHH!
Kind of interesting how the that touchscreen remote only outputs code to go from -2 to -3 or +4 to +5 and the code is different for each setting on the level. I noticed this a long time ago when trying to learn the center and rear levels with the sony touchpad. Fortunately a friend had another remote that had hard buttons that truely had the +/- buttons for center and rear. I asked of this majical remote again and it does not have hard buttons for sub +/-.
I would rather just find the "True" Sub-Woofer + and - Codes for this reciever... If anyone out there has got them??
Thanks

Ron, I have the STR-V444ES receiver, it's identical to the 555, just a different remote. I haven't seen what you're referring to with respect to the rears and center channel. But I don't have a sub button, so maybe mine is the "majical remote". Just a thought, but these remotes use 2 way communications. Try learning from the Sony remote to the Pronto in a different room from the receiver. Two-way com can mess up the learning process. Jim L

I would learn each increment. And make a device in your ccf where this will show what level the receiver is on. This might be the best way anyways. So that the user can see what level the sub is on. Instead of trying to look at the OSD or the screen on the front of the receiver.
There are many ways in going about this, as far as what to display. I have a fan that has many ir codes for each function. I had to learn about 13 codes, and make 13 pages. 12 codes/pages that display the status of the fan, and the last one being the off code/page.
Now for me to look at the fan won't tell me what mode it's in. However, looking at the remote does. Because I learned the ir codes, and in each button on each page made a jump to go to it's page where it tells me what button was pressed. EG if I want the fan to be on low. I would press the "low" button and the pronto will send the ir code, and jump to the "low" page where the button for low is highlighted. Same thing with med. Sends the med ir code and jumps to the "med" page where the med button is highlighted.
It's best to learn the ir codes on one page, hide it. And then alais the codes to each of the other pages.
Now correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like you have a -10db up to +10db, correct?
If the receiver only does one db at a time, then you will need to make 20 pages. However, most people can only hear a 2 db change. Some people can hear a 1db change, but for the most part a 2db change is heard. So if you want to make it easier on you, just make 10 pages and change it from -10, second page 8db, and so on.
If you'll like I can send you the fan's ccf so that you can look at it and get an idea from it.

Hey, Thanks Guys! Rob, I would not mind seeing your fan CCF, Is it posted? You can send it to my E-mail to [email protected] I kind of thought that the 10 to 20 page "slider" would be the solution for these "Sub-Woofer" codes. Oh Well!! Jim, I also have the remote that comes with the 444 and the center and rear buttons on that remote are "PERFECT" level buttons, And I do have those in my TSU2000. Problem is that 444 remote does not have a "sub level" to learn into pronto. The 555 comes with the sony touchscreen version of the pronto. It is Pretty useless, but there is a peculiar way of doing levels within their touchscreen remote. And there is a sub level +/- on their touchpad. But as explained it is very strange n how their code works. Tanks for the response.

Ronald,
I don't have access to the codes but Sony usually uses a 20 bit code for Command Modes 2 & 3. The code provided by Stephane is a 13 bit code and will most likely not work for your application as I suspect it is for Command Mode 1.
You need a Command Mode 2 command.
What I would need to help you is for you to post the IR Data for Center+ that your Sony remote emits (learned by the Pronto, of course). Then, I would take the function data from the 13 bit code provided by Stephane and plug it into the 20 bit code you provide.
If you would like to learn the ins and outs of IR, see Barry Gordon's IR document in the Files Section - User Docs.

Hello Lyndel,
Sorry for the delay, just got back from out of town. Anyway, I pasted the codes that are now in my pronto for rear and center +/- that currently work with my receiver in command mode 2. I do not know if these codes are “Dirty”, But – they work and I left it at that when I did all of that a while back
This is the Rear +
0000 0067 0006 0010 0013 0016 001b 0015 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0331 0060 0018 0018 0018 0032 0016 0033 0015 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0331
This is rear -
0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0018 0032 0016 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0319
This is the center +
0000 0067 0008 0010 000e 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0349 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0031 0017 001a 0016 0031 0017 001a 0016 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0349
This is the center -
0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0019 0017 0032 0016 001b 0015 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0331
The next section is the sub-woofer learned from the goofy sony touchpad. This method would be a real headache to build 21 screens for. It is probably useless information at this point, But I added it just in case.
This code is only brings the Sub-woofer level to “0” and only “0”
0000 0066 005b 0000 005f 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 002f 0017 0030 0017 0018 0018 0018 0017 002f 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 002f 0018 0017 0018 0018 0397 005f 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 002f 0018 002f 0017 0018 0018 0018 0017 002f 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 002f 0018 0017 0018 0018 0396 0060 0017 0018 0018 0018 0017 0018 0017 0018 0018 0018 0017 0030 0017 002f 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 002f 0018 0017 0018 0018 0017 0030 0017 0018 0017 0018 0398 0060 0018 002f 0018 002f 0017 0018 0018 0018 0017 002f 0018 002f 0018 002f 0018 0018 0147 0060 0017 0018 0018 002f 0017 0018 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 0017 0030 018f 0060 0017 0018 0018 0018 0017 0018 0017 0018 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018 01be 005f 0018 0018 0017 0030 0017 0018 0018 0017 0018 002f 0018 002f 0018 002f 0018 002f 0017 0030 0017 0030 0017 0018 0018 002f 0017 0018 0018 0018 0017 0018 0018

Thanks for your help, I started reading Barry Gordon’s Document, that one will take a while for me to decipher.

Hello Lyndel,
As I suspected, the codes that have been in the pronto for rear and center “+” were in fact dirty. I cleaned them up and tested to ensure that we had the right codes. I also added a “command mode 1” rear + and rear – for reference.
Rear +
Command mode 1 0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0349

I inspected these codes and noted that in each function (Center + center -) the only difference between the command mode 1 and command mode 2 was the last sequence and the 5th from the last sequence.
I hope this helps. Now if I only knew the sub level +/- for command 2 ;-)

Hi again, Well, you have inspired me with Barry's document and through further investigation I found the device codes and commands for this function on the www.anycities.com site. I also used the irtool to decode volume, etc. to ensure the format and compared to the other codes. The code that I need is: Device 48 (Command mode 2) Command 92 sub level + command 93 sub level - All my codes have a carrier of 0067, lead in of 0060 0018 and appear to be sony 8-bit codes. I have all other info now except leadout. My question is: Does it matter what "Leadout" string I enter into the code specifically for the sub +/- function ? I reviewed the various leadout strings on the above commands and they vary from 0319, 0331, 0349, 0361, 0379. Unfortunately I am hesitant to continue with the code as I am not sure of the proper lead out code. Can you help me on this one??? Thanks again

Hello Lyndel, I tried to save you some more time by doing some more testing. I have now exhausted myself with researching this Sub Level +/-. From this website, [Link: anycities.com]I tried the device code 48 command 92 and 93 with a leadout of 0349. (I also attempted this in command mode 1 - device 16) Also tried the device code 50 command 86 and 87 with the same lead out. Both did not work. Arrrrggghhh!!! I may be guessing that this is not available?? or the lead outs aren't correct?? Any thoughts on this one?? Tanks, Ron
