I have Pronto.ini Workshop v1.25, TSS 2.0.4, and Win XP. In Pronto.ini Workshop I set my remote model to Marantz RC9200 and then Quit. The next time I run Pronto.ini Workshop, it reverts back to Marantz RC5200. It remembers all the other settings (fonts, developer mode, delay). When I go into TSS and Look at Tools -> Update firmware, all I see is RC5000, RC5000i, and RC5200 updates. So I'm thinking some how TSS (or my registry) is stuck in 5200 mode and it doesn't know I have a 9200. This is the first time I have installed TSS on my XP system. Previously I was running TSS under Win Me (or using Tonto under XP).

Andrea, I don't run XP, but try to open TSS, select "file" and "new configuration". Select the "color" tab, then 9200 and open one of your ccfs. I think, but am not absolutely sure, that TSS will then subsequently open in 9200 mode. I believe it defaults to the last type of file used, although I have no idea how your's got stuck in 5200 mode. I do not know what caused it. Nor do I know how to fix it. Not sure if I tried to reinstall ProntEdit. I believe that I did though. But anyways my problem is.... Under tools -> update firmware. TSU-2000 updater is not there at all. Which is MY remote. I did use it a few times. But then one day it's not there. And it has been like that ever since. Although it is in c:\programfiles\prontedit4\updaters Or whatever the folder is at. Rob

Rob, Did you try my suggestion? Select "file", "new configuration", and then select your remote. You should then be able to load your ccf, and select the appropriate firmware update. Jim L

TSS and PE4 all use separate registry settings for setting a remote control's size. So the 5200, 9200, etc. all use separate settings, unlike older versions where there was just one generic setting that needed to be changed when you changed remotes.
There does appear to be a setting for what the default remote type is -- would you like me to add that feature to PIW? Note that this wouldn't be a hard default -- it would change whenever you select a new remote type in the software.
The only reason you'd need to use Pronto.INI Workshop to adjust a remote's memory size is to fix TSS's incorrect default settings (the defaults for several models are too low) or to create a large gallery.
Also note that the firmware updates for ALL models should be available ALL the time -- you might want to delete and reinstall.

Can you tell me the registry key and what to set it to for the 9200, so I can see if that helps my situation? I looked in HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> MARANTZ -> Touch Screen Setup -> 2.0.4 -> Settings and didn't see anything like that. Speaking of the registry, what should my size key be set to? It's currenlty 380 and PIW doesn't adjust that particular key. Also note that the firmware updates for ALL models should be available ALL the time -- you might want to delete and reinstall. I thought so. If there weren't a separate firmware updater for the 9200, I would have been screwed. I'll give uninstalling/deleting and reinstall a whirl after I try the registry setting for default remote type.

Andrea, Is the firmware updater itself in the updater folder? In your programfile/tssedit???? My tsu-2000 firmware updater itself is in mine. But it just won't show up in PE. Rob
Let see if this makes it before the 5 minute time for editing....
Well I just uninstalled pe 4.05 Then restalled it. With out restarting. And now my tsu-2000 updater shows up in the tools pull down. So I am all good now.

I don't believe the SIZE setting in the registry is actually used for anything.

Daniel, can you tell me what the setting is for default remote? I wanted to give it a shot before uninstalled TSS and reinstalled it. Thanks.

In the TSS registry area, change (or create) the Default_Type key and, for the RC9200, set it to a REG_DWORD hexadecimal value of 2.

A reboot seemed to have cleared up my problem with not all the firmware updates showing up. Argh! (With XP, I reboot every 1 to 2 weeks instead of every day when I had Me.) Setting the Default_Type to 2 made TSS stop asking me what type of CCF I wanted to create. Nice. I think it would be worth it to add it to PIW, whenver you have time. Thanks.

Andra, I dont know if you read my message from above. But I reboot, or at least turn off my pc, every day. Because it's too loud. But anyways. I didn't have my firmware update in my pe 4.05 for a month or so. To be honest, I probably used it 3 or 4 times before it went bye byes. (you know, for reflashing) But anyways. rebooting my pc (win 98) didn't do anything. Even clicking on "repair" on pe 4.05 didn't do anything. So I had to unistall, and then reinstall....... In which case I was very, VERY shocked when it told me that I had to restart my pc. I almost had a heart attack.
But anyways. When you uninstall pe 4.05, it only takes out stuff that makes pe work. Inculding ccfs that came with it not one's that YOU made. Any changes that you made will stay. Even if you saved it in c:/programs/prontoedit/ folders. They still will be there, including the prontoedit folder. When your finiched with the uninstall. You don't have to move your ccfs that you saved in the above folder. Just click on "install" and it will install it back into that folder. Change nothing in the folders, but what it needs to work. So your ccf's will still be there.

I don't know why my TSS keeps going wacko. It was stuck on RC5000 (type 0). I had to go into the registry and set it back to 2. Daniel, I hope this is still on your todo list for PIW.
